17th Annual Scientific Sessions in New York City ( www.columbia.edu/cu/lweb/eguides/nyc.html ) Over 450 nurse researchers and students participated in the multiple, informative sessions that increased their research knowledge, offered opportunities to network with the experts and provided time to celebrate individual and group accomplishments. This year’s conference, co-hosted by Columbia School of Nursing ( http://cpmcnet.columbia.edu/dept/nursing ), featured many distinguished researchers from the region and beyond. Drs Bobbie Berkowitz and Kristine Gebbie were but two of the featured speakers who provided new insights into the many dimensions of translational research. Nine pre-conference workshops were well attended and offered participants a chance to engage in dialogue, and access new knowledge about nursing science and related research methodologies. Sponsored events such as University Nursing School receptions, the Deans and Directors Breakfast, a Doctoral Student session and Research Interest Groups (RIGS) meetings gave members an opportunity to discuss issues of personal and professional interest. In addition, a new highlight from this years conference will be the publication of invited papers in a special Nursing Research Supplement, funded by an AHRQ dissemination grant and awarded to Dr. Elaine Larson, a member of the Conference Planning Group. Drs. Suzanne Bakken and Dorothy Jones will co-edit this publication, which will be available to members in April 2006. Addendum to the Book of Proceedings for the 17th Annual Scientific Sessions (Members)
