19th Annual Scientific Sessions
April 12-14, 2007 The conference was held at the More than 375 nurse researchers and students attended the 19th Annual Scientific Sessions in Providence, RI this past April. Nurse scientists are becoming more aware that nursing research can have a greater relevance and impact on the health of society when we reach out and expand our community of scholars, and develop and use our collective strength. The 19th Annual Scientific Sessions provided the perfect forum for nurses to use their shared expertise to ask and address "cutting edge" questions concerning patients, families, and communities; and expand scientific knowledge affecting health and healthcare delivery. After stimulating pre-conference sessions, President Mary Sullivan welcomed attendees and laid the groundwork for a rewarding 3 days in Providence. Dr. Janet Larson delivered the Opening Plenary address, Building Research Capacity through Collaboration and Mentoring on Thursday evening to a captive audience. Keynote Speaker Dr. Cornelia Beck energized attendees Friday morning with her address Travels of a Nurse Researcher: Main Roads, Side Roads, Thoroughfares and Driver's Ed. The conference was capped by a distinguished closing panel focused on Partnering With Community. The objectives of the conference were truly brought full circle. Throughout our time in Providence numerous oral presentations, poster sessions and symposia offered wonderful opportunities for dissemination of peer-reviewed research. Special breakfasts, receptions, and research interest group meetings offered unique networking opportunities. The ENRS Annual Business Meeting provided a stage to learn more about the interior organization of the ENRS community. The membership voted on important issues to help ENRS solidify a productive and progressive future. The 19th Annual Scientific Sessions brought together a wonderful population of students, researchers and professionals. The exchange of knowledge and ideas was a great reward to all who attended. We look forward to another inspiring session as we gear up for our 20th Anniversary in Philadelphia in 2008!
