21st Annual Scientific Sessions Enhancing Health through Nursing Interventions
ENRS was delighted to welcome more than 475 nurse researchers and students to the Boston Waterfront for the 21st Annual Scientific Sessions. This conference focused on the importance of nursing contributions to enhancing health across a variety of patient populations. We were proud to welcome distinguished speakers, generous supporters and our core constituency-all elements that make each ENRS conference notable.
Friday morning began with the first of several poster sessions. We have been so pleased to showcase the work of magnet institutions from around our region for many years and 2009 provided another strong slice of worthwhile nursing research highlights. A full day of papers, posters and panel sessions ensued with strong content, opportunity for interaction and lively discussion among attendees. Late afternoon and evening sessions provided a forum for ENRS Research Interest Groups and student attendees. Poster sessions for the ENRS RIGs, Early Doctoral, BS and MS students wound down our first full day. The student sessions provide young researchers with the opportunity to display fresh and innovative practice. Our RIG session provides seasoned researchers the opportunity to collaborate on common ground and learn from the best practices of others.
We will travel to Providence, RI from March 24-26, 2010 for our 22nd Annual Scientific Sessions. We hope to see you all with us Judith A. Erlen

Thursday afternoon kicked off with a memorable address by Dr. Angela Barron McBride who drew from her vast and varied experience to bring us her insights on "Orchestrating a Career". It was then off to breakout sessions as day one continued with vigor. Dr. Nancy Bergstrom led our opening plenary with a topic well suited to our 2009 objectives; "Dissemination and Translating Research into Clinical Settings". This year's opening day targeted research development for the novice to the expert. Truly, our nurse scientists provided something for everyone to take away. Thursday evening was brought to a close by our welcome reception and a stroll through our exhibit hall filled with University and Corporate supporters.
We continued our pace on Saturday morning with our RIG roundtable and our final paper and poster sessions. The topics, speakers and content displayed throughout our time in Boston were a testament to the strength of the work being done throughout the ENRS region. We are thankful to all who attended and participated. We celebrated our 20th Anniversary in Philadelphia in 2008 and could not have planned a better conference to kick-off the next 20 years!
